New York Music

In an incredible city such as New York there are music venues for all different styles of music. Depending on your musical taste you can surely find a something suitable for a night out.

 

Jazz

If you are interested in a night of listening to world renowned jazz talent then Blue Note, located at 131 W 3rd Street, would be an excellent place to start. With its gold plaque tables, the Blue Note is one of the most famous jazz clubs around. There is also the Fat Cat, located at 75 Christopher Street, which offers low-key jazz.  You can also play billiards and ping pong and has the feel of an authentic old style jazz club.

 

Live Bands

If it’s live local music you are interested in experiencing then the Cake Shop, located at 152 Ludlow Street, can be a great option. Enjoy coffee, wine, beer with what else-a piece of cake! This is a great venue to listen to live local music and is sure to provide a one of a kind musical experience.

 

Country

For good old fashion country music, try Pete’s Candy Store, located at 709 Lorimer Street. Their backroom offers country style music along with weekday quiz-off trivia competitions.


World Music

 New York has many options for worldly music such as S.O.B’s on 204 Varick Street. At Sounds of Brazil you will hear different types of music including reggae, hip-hop, R&B jazz, salsa and specialty nights such as South Asia dance hits “Basement Bhangra.” There is also Otto’s Shrunken Head at 538 East 14th street filled with Polynesian kitsch and matching drinks.  It is a tiki paradise featuring live music and exotic décor.

 

Classical

The Metropolitan Opera

To experience historically beautiful music with world famous singers then a night at the Metropolitan Opera may be a perfect place for you. It is the most famous opera house in North America and is known for its spectacular productions, incredible music and an elegant artistic experience. Although tickets can be quite expensive, the Met (as it is affectionately known) offers 200 level orchestra seats for 20$ on regular performances Monday-Thursday. It ‘s well worth it!

 

Carnegie Hall is a musical treasure known for their amazing musical settings and exceptional acoustics. With a wide range of musical styles including opera, jazz, pop, classical, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
